The Cloud prevails

81 percent of companies now use common SaaS productivity platforms. The introduction of Microsoft Office 365 is also increasing.

Bitglass Cloud Adoption Report 2018 confirms what is already emerging in the business world: The use of cloud technologies has established itself as a common practice in companies. Global adoption is now at 81 percent, an increase of 37 percent since 2016, according to the results of the fourth study of this kind, which examines the use of cloud applications in 135,000 companies worldwide.

This strong upward trend is also evident in the area of cloud productivity suites and IaaS solutions. Office 365 records a significant increase from 34 percent in 2016 to more than 56 percent in 2018, while the use of Google's G-Suite remains unchanged at 25 percent since 2016. AWS has become the provider of choice for IaaS solutions: 13.8 percent of companies worldwide now use AWS.

»It should come as no surprise that the introduction of cloud technologies reaches new record levels year after year. Companies worldwide now trust platforms such as Office 365 and AWS to continue to increase security and expand functionality,« said Rich Campagna, CMO at Bitglass. »Competition between leading public cloud providers such as Amazon, Google and Microsoft will intensify further in the battle for market share. It remains to be seen which new apps will establish themselves in companies in the course of this.«
